Surrounded by paintings, music, clay, my pots, and memories collected over the years, my studio is where I feel most inspired to create and express myself.
It is a space filled with colour, thought, and feeling — where the changing light and sands of the West Coast continue to find their way into my work.
The Artist
I began my artistic journey in 1975 with pottery.
I began my artistic journey in 1975 with pottery, exploring wheelwork, hand-building, and mould-making as forms of creative expression.
In 1998, I transitioned into painting—initially to decorate my ceramics—but quickly fell in love with the medium itself. I started with acrylics and later moved to oils, which remain my favourite.
With the guidance of inspiring teachers Dennis Hilton Lees and Cyril Coetzee, I developed both confidence and a love for experimentation that continues to shape my work.
